Film: a row of stepped white villas and a wooded hill behind them, in golden light.
Completed, on one private street.
Some villas look out to the sea, the rest over the green valley.
To Milas–Bodrum airport.
To Bodrum town, its beaches and marinas.
Film: a slow drone pass along a villa's balconies, beside the steep paved street.
Every villa sits on a single private street behind the entrance gate. There is no through traffic: the street belongs to the people who live on it.
I · Beyond the gate
Boğaziçi sits on the Güllük Gulf, between a fishing harbour and a lagoon.
Down the hill, Boğaziçi is still a fishing village. Boats tie up along the shore, and the fish restaurants beside them cook the day's catch.
Each winter, from about November until April, flamingos gather on the Tuzla lagoon at the foot of the village. They are the reason for the flamingo on our gate.
History is close by too. The ruins of Bargylia, a city of ancient Caria, lie at the edge of the village, and Iasos stands on a headland across the gulf.
By road from the gate
Approximate drive times by road.
Film: a vertical rise up one villa facade, from the stone base past the glazing to the slats.
White volumes step down the slope on a base of stacked stone, with warm wood-tone slats and wide glazed corners. Terraces and balconies look out over the gardens and the valley.
Film: a glide along a lawn past a palm and magenta bougainvillea, towards the valley view.
Lawn, palms, olive trees and bougainvillea behind a low fence. In this climate the garden is another room for most of the year.
Film, illustrative interior: a slow push towards a dining table, with sun through sheer curtains.
Large windows carry the light far inside. The furnishing is an impression of how the rooms could be lived in.
Film: a villa pool at sunset, with the sun resting on the ridge.
The pool is shared by the residents, and at sunset it holds the whole sky.
Film: the lamp-lit entrance gate at dusk.
